Ontario Waves

Ontario waves roll and crash, roll and crash;
They mostly roll.
A testament that the body of our lives
Need not be filled with constant barrage.
Yet it is that crash that sounds the sweetest!

We lie in wait and are calm,
Calm and restful.
When water meets shore though
It is at that moment we realize
Something was missing.

Without the meeting of the two
There is no purpose, no direction.
There are waves rolling
And there is a wave rolling!
Roll into crash.

Wintering, Again

Jessica, Tanner, and I are looking forward to another winter at Lake Bluff! We will be spending it at the Mayor's office. Our skis and snowshoes are standing at the ready--I'm hoping to get some more local use out of them than was possible last year...

L.I. Bridge

Below are some photos my dad snapped of the Leroy Island Bridge project yesterday:

Kayaking

It is nice to see kayaking taking root locally. Dad, Jess, Hannah, & I went paddling today as a group of four and crossed paths with serveral other kayakers during our hour on the water. There were many more small-cockpit boats noticeable along the west shoreline in between the Lake Bluff cove and Leroy Island bridge.

Leroy Island Temp Bridge

Below is the current progress on the construction of the temporary bridge to Leroy Island; it is on the north side of the existing bridge.

The temporary bridge will be used for vehicle & foot traffic while the new bridge is being built. Seems like quite a bit of time is being spent on the temp bridge alone--the only way to do it I suppose to ensure continuous access to the island while at the same time replacing the current bridge in the exact same location.

Sunset on the Beach

Went down to the dock last evening with Dad to try and jump start the Chaparral with my new Duracell PowerPack. No luck--we figure the marine battery is flat-dead. There did, however, happen to be an excellent sunset. Here are some photos:
